If we assume <b class="b3">*πρώϜων</b>, <b class="b3">πρώ</b>[F]<b class="b3">ονες</b> becomes regular, but then must <b class="b3">πρηών</b> either be false analysis or old ablaut of <b class="b3">πρών</b>. For <b class="b3">*πρώϜων</b> tells undoubtedly the hardly separable <b class="b3">πρῳ̃ρα</b> (Bechtel Lex., Risch $ 26 b, Specht Ursprung 344). -- To the group of <b class="b3">πρό</b>; connection with Skt. <b class="b2">pū́rva-</b> [[frontmost]], [[earlier]] seems possible; s. <b class="b3">πρῳ̃ρα</b>.
