If for <b class="b3">ἐχθοδαπός</b> (Pergam. IIp; here prob. innovation for <b class="b3">ἐχθοδοπός</b>) (Aeolic?), it must be compared with <b class="b3">ποδαπός</b>, <b class="b3">ἀλλοδαπός</b>. So from <b class="b3">ἐχθός</b> [[outside]], <b class="b3">ἐχθο-δοπός</b> prop. [[outside]], [[foreign]], <b class="b3">ἐχθοδοπέω</b> <b class="b2">become a foreigner to</b>? Cf. Leumann Hom. Wörter 158 n. 1; s. also <b class="b3">ἔχθος</b>. - Bechtel Lex. s. v. compares <b class="b3">κυδοιδοπᾶν</b> (Ar. Pax 1152, Nu. 616) <b class="b2">make a hubbub</b> and assumes an unknown verb <b class="b2">*depō</b>, which is not very convincing.
