|Definition=[ῐ], an Ep. perf. with no pres. in use, <span class="sense"><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<span class="bld">A</span> <b class="b2">to be sorrowful</b>, τετίησθον <span class="bibl">Il.8.447</span>; elsewh. Hom. always uses part., in the phrase <b class="b3">τετιημένος, τετιημένη ἦτορ</b>, <span class="bibl">Il.11.556</span>, <span class="bibl">Od.4.804</span>, al., cf. <span class="bibl">Hes.<span class="title">Th.</span> 163</span>.--We also find the Act. pf. part. <b class="b3">τετῐηώς</b> (in same sense) mostly in the phrase <b class="b3">τετιηότι θυμῷ</b>, with [[sorrowing]] heart, <span class="bibl">Il.11.555</span>, <span class="bibl">17.664</span>, <span class="bibl">24.283</span>; also ἷζον τετιηότες <span class="bibl">9.13</span>; <b class="b3">δὴν δ' ἄνεῳ ἦσαν τετιηότες</b> they were long silent <b class="b2">from grief</b>, ib.<span class="bibl">30</span>,<span class="bibl">695</span>.
