From WestIE. one adduces OIr. [[saigim]], <b class="b2">-id</b> [[trace something]], [[search]], prob a yot-present (from <b class="b2">*sh₂g-</b>), s. Thurneysen Grammar 354; for the vowel cf. Lat.
