P. and V. φάρμακον, τὸ, V. ἰός, ὁ. v. trans. P. and V. φαρμακεύειν. Cause to rot: P. and V. σήπειν. Met., see corrupt. Some even say he poisoned himself: P. λέγουσί τινες καὶ ἑκούσιον φαρμάκῳ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτόν (Thuc. 1, 138).
