|wketx=In Greek mythology, [[Lethe]] (Greek: [[Λήθη]], Lḗthē; Ancient Greek: [lɛ́:tʰɛː], Modern Greek: [ˈliθi]) was one of the five rivers of the underworld of Hades. Also known as the Ameles potamos (river of unmindfulness), the Lethe flowed around the cave of Hypnos and through the Underworld where all those who drank from it experienced complete forgetfulness. Lethe was also the name of the Greek spirit of forgetfulness and oblivion, with whom the river was often identified.

In Classical Greek, the word lethe ([[λήθη]]) literally means "oblivion", "forgetfulness", or "concealment". It is related to the Greek word for "truth", aletheia (ἀλήθεια), which through the privative alpha literally means "un-forgetfulness" or "un-concealment".

|wkeltx=Στην ελληνική μυθολογία, κατά τον Ησίοδο, η Λήθη ήταν θυγατέρα της Έριδας και προσωποποίηση της λήθης, δηλαδή της λησμονιάς και της αγνωμοσύνης. Τη θεωρούσαν μία από τις Ναϊάδες Νύμφες. Σύμφωνα με ορισμένες πηγές, η Λήθη ήταν η μητέρα των τριών Χαρίτων.

Από τη Λήθη πήραν το όνομά τους μία πηγή και ένας από τους πέντε ποταμούς του Άδη, από τα ύδατα του οποίου έπιναν οι κατερχόμενοι νεκροί για να λησμονήσουν το παρελθόν, την επίγεια ζωή τους. Τον ποταμό Λήθη παρίσταναν ως ένα γέροντα που κρατούσε στο ένα χέρι υδρία και στο άλλο κύπελλο.

Ο Πλούταρχος αναφέρει ότι υπήρχε βωμός της Λήθης στο Ερέχθειο των Αθηνών. Επίσης, στη Βοιωτία υπήρχε κοντά στο Μαντείο του Τροφωνίου η πηγή της Λήθης, όπως και η πηγή της Μνημοσύνης. Οι αρχαίοι πίστευαν ότι η Λήθη ήταν αδελφή του Θανάτου και του Ύπνου.

Léthé (Λήθη / Lếthê) signifie oubli en grec ancien.

En grec ancien, le mot pour vérité est alètheia (ἀλήθεια), qui est apparenté au mot Léthé. Le a privatif qui y est ainsi associé semble indiquer que la vérité est un dés-oubli, un dévoilement hors de l'oubli, une réminiscence. Cette idée a été utilisée en philosophie par Martin Heidegger pour interpréter le poème de Parménide De la nature (Περί Φύσεως, « Peri Physeos »).
