Pass., with aor. inf. τερσῆναι, τερσήμεναι (v. infr.), as if from ἐτέρσην:—

   A to be or become dry, dry up, ἕλκος ἐτέρσετο παύσατο δ' αἷμα the wound dried up and the blood was staunched, Il.11.267,848; οὐδέ μοι αἷμα τερσῆναι δύναται 16.519; θειλόπεδον τέρσεται ἠελίῳ is baked by the sun, Od.7.124; εἵματα δ' ἠελίοιο μένον τερσήμεναι αὐγῇ 6.98; ὅταν [τὰ ῥάκεα] ἐν ἡλίῳ τέρσηται Hp.Mul.1.11; ὄσσε δακρυόφιν τέρσοντο his eyes became dry from tears, Od.5.152.    II Act. first in later Ep. (Hom. using only τερσαίνω), aor. subj. τέρσῃ (-σει codd.) Theoc.22.63; inf. τέρσαι Nic.Th.96,693 (v.l. τέρσον both times); opt. Med. τέρσαιο ib.709:—Hsch. cites ἐτέρρατο· ἐξηράνθη. (Cf.
