ὁ, epith. of Apollo at Athens, Lysim.21, Suid. A s.v. Μεταγειτνιών:—hence Μεταγειτν-ιών, ῶνος, ὁ, second month of the Attic year, Antipho6.44, Arist.HA549a16, Plu.Publ. 14; also at Delos, IG11(2).203 A32 (iii B. C.), and in Ionic cities, as Priene, SIG278.2 (iv B. C.), Miletus, ib.633.75 (ii B. C.); cf. Πεδαγείτνιος. (Derived by Gramm. from μετά, γείτων, because people changed their neighbours: gen. sg. written τοῦ Μεταγειτο IG22.1672.34.)
