A pour around, pour or spread over, ἀμφὶ δ' ἄρ' ἑρμῖσιν χέε δέσματα Od.8.278. II mostly Pass., to be poured or shed around, πάρος κόνιν ἀμφιχυθῆναι Il.23.764: c. acc., θείη δέ μιν ἀμφέχυτ' ὀμφή ib.2.41; τὴν ἄχος ἀμφεχύθη Od.4.716; ἀμφιχυθὲν γῆρας Mimn.5; ἀμφὶ δὲ σποδὸν κάρᾳ κεχύμεθα we have ashes poured over our head, E.
