A cover over, cover up, shroud, κακὸν δ' ἐπὶ κῶμα καλύπτει v.l. in Hes.Th.798; of snow covering a track, X. Cyn.8.1; ἐ. τὴν ἀπορίαν Pl.Chrm.169d; τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς Sor.1.106:— Pass., to be covered over, veiled, ἡ ἐπωνυμία ἐπικεκάλυπται Pl.Cra.395b; ἐπικαλύπτεσθαι τὸν νοῦν πάθει ἢ ὕπνῳ is darkened, obscured, Arist. de An.429a7.
