A without heavy armour on (cf. ὁπλίτης), Th.4.9, etc.: generally, unarmed, Pl.Prt.321c; τὰ τυφλὰ τοῦ σώματος καὶ ἄοπλα καὶ ἄχειρα, i.e. the back, X.Cyr.3.3.45; ἅρμα ἄ. a chariot without scythes, ib.6.4.16. Cf. ἄνοπλος.
