   A fond of hearing conversation, discourses, etc., φ. καὶ ζητητικός Pl.R.535d; φιλόμουσος καὶ φ. ib.548e; οἵ τε φιλοθεάμονες οἵ τε φ. ib.475d; ἀνὴρ φ. καὶ ἱστορικός Plu.Alc.10:—τὸ φ., = φιληκοΐα, Id.2.704e: but also, fond of hearing for mere pastime, opp. οἱ φιλομαθοῦντες, Plb.7.7.8.
