v. trans.
P. and V. λύειν, Ar. and P. διαλύειν. interrupt (in speaking): P. ὑπολαμβάνειν, Ar. ὑποκρούειν. It often interrupted me in the middle of speaking: P. πολλαχοῦ δή με ἐπέσχε λέγοντα μεταξύ (Plat., Ap. 40B). Interrupt me in the middle if you like: P. μεταξὺ ἐπιλαβοῦ ἂν βούλῃ (Plat., Sym. 214E). hinder: P. and V. ἐμποδίζειν. prevent: P. and V. κωλύειν, ἐπικωλύειν; see prevent. Put a stop to: P. and V. παύειν; see end.
