A gnawer, mibbler: but in Od.14.289, 15.416, Phoenician traffickers are called τρῶκται, greedy knaves; so τ. σφόδρ' ἐστίν Com.Adesp.606; and Gramm. explain τρώκτης by φάγος, φιλοκερδής, πανοῦργος, ἀπατεών, Hsch., Phot., Eust.1757.51; φιλοχρήματοι καὶ τ. Philostr.Her.Prooem.1. 2 as Adj., τρῶκται χεῖρες greedy hands, of a usurer, AP9.409 (Antiphan., dub. cj.). II a sea-fish with sharp teeth, = ἀμία (q.v.), Ael.NA1.5.
