A engage, occupy, τινά Luc.Zeux.7:—Med., impf. ἠσχολεῖτο (v. infr.): fut. -ήσομαι M.Ant.12.2, Aristid.1.423 J.; -ηθήσομαι LXX Si.39.1: pf. ἠσχόλημαι D.C.71.10: aor. ἠσχολησάμην Gal.7.657, and -ήθην D.S.4.32, Luc.Macr.8:—to be occupied, busy, Alex. 205, Men.999, Epicur.Fr.204, etc.; ἀσχολούμεθα ἵνα σχολάζωμεν Arist.EN1177b4; περί or ἐπί τι, D.S.2.40,17.94; πρός τινας Aristid. l. c., cf. 2.178J.: c. part., λαλῶν ἠσχολεῖτο Alex.261.12, etc.: c. acc. cogn., ἀ. ἀσχολίας ἀνωφελεῖς D.Chr.47.23; exercise a function, POxy.44.7,23 (i A.D.). II Act. intr., in same sense as Med., Arist.Pol.1333a41, 1338a4, Philem.220; to be engaged in one's own business, Arist.Pol.1299b33.—Not used in the best Att.
