μέτρον γὰρ τοῦ βίου τὸ καλόν, οὐ τὸ τοῦ χρόνου μῆκος → for life's measure is its beauty not its length (Plutarch, Consolatio ad Apollonium 111.D.4)

Russian (Dvoretsky)

κοινά: adv. сообща, вместе Soph.

Frisk Etymological English

Meaning: (for κοίνα or κοῖνα?) χόρτος H.
Origin: IE [Indo-European]X [probably] [610] *koino- grass
Etymology: Agrees completely with a Balto-Slavic word for hay, e. g. Lith. šiẽnas, OCS sěno χόρτος (Persson BB 19, 257). Lat. fēnum, faenum hay can hardly be combined with it, s. W.-Hofmann s. v. and Nachträge 1, 864f. However, Latte supposes that it is about common ground, so from κοινός.

Frisk Etymology German

κοινά: {koiná}
Meaning: (für κοίνα od. κοῖνα?)· χόρτος H.
Etymology : Stimmt ganz zu einem baltisch-slavischen Wort für Heu, z. B. lit. šiẽnas, aksl. sěno χόρτος (Persson BB 19, 257). Lat. fēnum, faenum Heu läßt sich damit schwerlich vereinigen, s. W.-Hofmann s. v. und Nachträge 1, 864f.
