The rain and the cloady state of the weather caused the ships to lose their way and get confused in the darkness: P. ὑετός τε καὶ τὰ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ συννέφαλα ὄντα πλάνησιν τῶν νεῶν ἐν τῷ σκότει καὶ ταραχὴν πάρεσχε (Thuc. 8, 42).
