v. trans.

P. and V. λύειν, V. ἀναπτύσσειν, ἐξελίσσειν.

Make clear: P. and V. σαφηνίζειν (Xen. but rare P.).

Whenever they closed with one another they could not easily get disentangled: P. ἐπειδὴ προσβάλοιεν ἀλλήλοις οὐ ῥᾳδίως ἀπελύοντο (Thuc. 1, 49).
