A in full bodily strength, vigorous; in Hom. as Adj., ἀνέρι . . αἰζηῷ τε κρατερῷ τε Il.16.716, cf. 23.432; of a stout, lusty slave, τεσσερακονταέτης αἰ. Hes.Op.441, cf. Th.863:— freq. as Subst., Il.2.660, Od.12.440, Call.Jov.70, A.R.4.268, Nic.Al. 176, etc.; κταμένοις ἐπ' αἰζηοῖσι καυχᾶσθαι μέγα Cratin.95.
