[Seite 1263] eigtl. die isthmischen Spiele feiern, übertr., weil ὁ τῶν Ἰσθμίων καιρὸς ἐπίνοσος war, ἐπὶ τῶν κακῶς βιούντων, VLL.; aber bei Phot. auch καταπίνεται erkl., von ἰσθμός, also durch die Gurgel jagen.
