A numb, deaden, ὀδύνας κωφοῖ Hp.Liqu.1, cf. Gal.19.116:—Pass., Hp. Morb.2.8: metaph. in Pass., κ. πρὸς μάθησιν Ph.1.548; κεκωφωμένος πρὸς τὰ τεχνικὰ θεωρήματα S.E.M.1.34. 2 deafen, in Pass., ὁκόσοισιν ἂν τὰ ὦτα κωφωθῇ Hp.Aph.4.60, cf. Ph.1.224. 3 put to silence, in Pass., become dumb, LXX Ps.38(39).3. II maim, injure, in Pass., Hp.Loc.Hom.2, cf. Erot.s.v.κωφωθῇ. III Pass., of water, lose its freshness, Hp.Vict.1.35.
