   A = πένομαι ἀμφί τινα, to be busied about, take charge of, c. acc. pers., οἵ μευ πατέρ' ἀμφεπένοντο Od.15.467; of people tending a wounded man, Il.4.220, 16.28, Od. 19.455: c. acc. rei, δῶρα Il.19.278; τάφον, στόλον, δόρπον, A.R. 2.925, 1199, 4.883; ταῦρον Id.3.271.    b τὸν οὐ κύνες ἀμφεπένοντο dogs made not a meal of him, Il.23.184, cf. 21.203; λέων . . ὅν τ' ἐν ὄρεσσιν ἀνέρες ἀμφιπένονται hem in, A.R.2.27.
