A up-hill, steep, opp. κατάντης, χωρίον Hdt. 2.29; πεδία Hp.Aër.19; ὁδός, ἀνάβασις, Pl.R.364d, 515e; πρὸς ἄναντες ἐλαύνειν, opp. κατὰ πρανοῦς, X.Eq.3.7, cf Pl.Phdr.247b; πρὸς τὸ ἄ. τῶν πολιτειῶν in the ascending scale of our constitutions, Id.R.568c; πρὸς ὑψηλὰ καὶ ἀνάντη Id Lg.732c.
