   A set over against, opposite, λαβεῖν τινὰ ἀντήρη meet face to face in battle, E.Ph.754, cf. 1367; ἀντήρεις στέρνων πληγάς blows on the breast, S.El.89: c. gen., Φοινίκας ἀ. χώρα over against, facing it, E.Tr.221 (lyr.): c. dat., ἀ. τινί opposite to a thing, Id.IA224; ἀ. ὄψεσι, of the bat, hostile to, S.Fr.747 (lyr.).
