There is no equivalent of <b class="b3">εἴδομαι</b>; comparable are Celtic and Germanic forms, e. g. OIr. <b class="b2">ad-féded</b> [[narrabat]], Goth. <b class="b2">ra-weitan</b> [[revenge]], both from IE <b class="b2">*u̯eid-</b>, but they differ in meaning. <b class="b3">εἴδομαι</b> agrees semantically well to <b class="b3">εἶδος</b>. It may have been influenced by <b class="b3">εἶδος</b>. - The form <b class="b3">ἐεισάμενος</b> is found only in the formula (verse init.) <b class="b3">τῳ̃ μιν ε</b>. <b class="b3">προσέφη</b>; it is therefore probable that an accident led to this unusual form: the formula will have had <b class="b3">τῳ̃ δε Ϝε Ϝεισάμενος</b>; see Beekes Larr. 59f.
