(s. <b class="b3">νωδός</b>) and <b class="b3">ὄθομαι</b> "who cares for nothing" with formation of the second member after the <b class="b3">σ-</b>, resp. <b class="b3">ρο-</b>stems cf. Schwyzer 513 and 483). After Müller-Graupa PhW 63,94 to <b class="b3">ὠθέω</b> ("who does not let him pushed from his place); equally probable. -- Not with Johansson and Brugmann (s. Bq) to Skt. <b class="b2">ādhrá-</b> [[weak]], [[poor]] (s. WP. 1, 57 n. 1 and Mayrhofer s.v.), also not with Mayrhofer Arch. Fur. 390 connects <b class="b3">νωφάλης</b> and <b class="b3">νωφρύς</b> (but a variation <b class="b3">χ</b>\/<b class="b3">φ</b> is further unknown to me).
