Acc. to Leumann, Hom. Wörter 244 our series is the oldest. A remarkable similarity shows Lat. [[minurriō]], <b class="b2">-īre</b> [[twitter]] (Suet.); if not directly loaned from Greek, literarily influenced. -- Resembling reduplicated formations are <b class="b3">μιμιχμός τοῦ ἵππου φωνή</b> and <b class="b3">μιμάξασα χρεμετίσασα</b>, <b class="b3">φωνήσασα</b> H. (cf. Grošelj Živa Ant. 4, 173); from other languages e.g. Skt. <b class="b2">mímāti</b> [[bleat]], [[roar]], [[cry]], OCS [[mъmati]] (<b class="b2">mьm-</b>) [[stammer]].
