The forms <b class="b3">πρω-</b> derive from the zero grade <b class="b2">*pr̥h₃-</b>. Not here the yot-present <b class="b3">πείρω</b>; s. v., nor the primary <b class="b3">πέρνημι</b> [[sell]] (which has <b class="b2">h₂</b>; s. v.). Skt. <b class="b2">pí-par-ti</b> <b class="b2">set over, bring over</b> will also rather have the root <b class="b2">*perh₂-</b>; here prob. also the frequentative Lat. [[portō]], <b class="b2">-āre</b> [[bring]], [[carry]]. Skt. [[purdhi]] [[give]] however belongs with <b class="b3">πορεῖν</b> (from <b class="b2">*pr̥h₃-</b>). The forms <b class="b3">πέρα</b>, <b class="b3">περάω</b> clearly have <b class="b2">h₂</b>. Less clear is Lat. [[pars]] (W.Hofmann s. v.). -- Cf. also [[πόρις]].
