LW [loanword] [[cyathus]] (Plaut.). - Szemerényi, Gnomon 43 (1971) compares Ugar. <b class="b2">qb`t</b> , Hebr. <b class="b2">qubba`at</b> [[cup]]. Clearly a Pre-Greek word (cf. DELG); Fur. 237 compares [[κόβαθος]] [[a vessel]], and [[κύβεθρον]] [[beehive]](?). The sequence <b class="b3">-υα-</b> is typcical of [[foreign]] words.
