inf. κατειπεῖν, used as aor. to the pres. καταγορεύω (κατερῶ (v. κατερέω) being the fut.):—also in form κατεῖπα Hdt.2.89, Ar. Pax 20:—
A speak against or to the prejudice of, accuse, denounce, τινος Ar.Pax 377, Th.340; κ. τινὸς πρός τινα Pl.Tht.149a, cf. X.Mem.2.6.33: abs., give information, Hdt.2.89, πρὸς τοὺς βασιλέας SIG986.7 (Chios, v/iv B.C.). II c. acc., declare, report, εἴ σοι γάμον κατεῖπον E.Med. 589; κ. τοῖς θεαταῖς τὸν λόγον Ar.V.54; τἀν Σάμῳ ib.283 (lyr.); πατέρα κ. make him known, E.Ion 1345; κ. τοὺς ποιήσαντας, τὰ γεγενημένα, denounce them, And.2.7: c. acc. et part., κ. σῷ κασιγνήτῳ πόσιν ἥκοντα E.Hel.898; enumerate, φύλλα δένδρων Anacreont.13.2. 2 abs., tell, κάτειπέ μοι tell me, Ar.Nu.155, Pl.86: folld. by interrog., κ. ὅκως . .
