Στᾱσ-, ὁ, the Lyric poet Stesichorus, Simon.53, Pl.Phdr.243a: prov., οὐδὲ τὰ τρία Στησιχόρου (i.e. strophe, antistrophos, epode) γνῶναι, of illiterate persons, Diogenian.7.14:—Adj. Στησιχόρειος, ον, Plu.2.1135c, etc.    2 a throw of the dice which showed eight pips, said to be named from the eight-sided monument of the poet at Himera, Poll. 9.100.
