P. and V. σπαράσσειν (Plat.), V. σπᾶν, κνάπτειν, ἀρταμεῖν, διαρταμεῖν, Ar. and V. διασπᾶσθαι, διασπαράσσειν, καταξαίνειν. Tear in pieces: V. διαφέρειν, Ar. and V. διαφορεῖν. Outrage: P. and V. λυμαίνεσθαι (acc. or dat.), αἰκίζεσθαι, λωβᾶσθαι (Plat.). Met., mangle a speech in reciting it: P. λυμαίνεσθαι (Dem. 315).
