A nail on, in Pass., Apollod.Poliorc.158.8, Ath.Mech.25.3: metaph., τῶνδ' ἐφήλωται τορῶς γόμφος διαμπάξ the bolt is driven home, i. e. it is irrevocably fixed, A.Supp.944; cf. ἐφαλόω.
