A snatch up and carry off, ἀνηρείψαντο, of the gods, 11.20.234, cf. Pi.Pae.6.136, A.R.2.503; of the Harpies, Od.1.241, etc.; of storms, 4.727; so παῖδα . . Ἀφροδίτη ὦρτ' ἀνερειψαμένη Hes.Th.990; τὴν Ἀργὼ οὐρανὸς ἀνηρείψατο Them.Or.27.333a:—later, take upon oneself, πόνον Orph.A.290. (The true spelling is prob. ἀνηρεψ-, which has Ms. authority in Hes.l.c. and A.R.1.214; cf. ἀ[νᾱ]ρέψατο Pi.Pae.l.c., and ἀνερεψάμενοι, Hsch.: v. ἅρπυια.)
