   A ἑάνδανον Hdt.9.5 and 19 (in 7.172,8.29, codd. give ἥνδανον): fut. ἁδήσω Id.5.39: pf. ἅδηκα Hippon.100, Locr. ϝεϝάδηκα (v. infr. 11); ἕᾱδα A.R. 1.867; part. ἑαδώς 11.9.173: aor. ἑᾰδον Hdt.4.201, 6.106, cf. SIG57.40; Ep. εὔᾰδον (i.e. ἔϝαδον) Il.14.340, Od.16.28; ἅδον [ᾰ] Il.13.748; 3sg. subj. ἅδῃ Hdt.1.133, opt. ἅδοι Od.20.327, inf. ἁδεῖν Il.3.173, S. Ant.89: Later, aor. 1 ἧσα Plot.2.3.7:—please, delight, gratify, mostly Ion. and poet., used like ἥδομαι, except as to construction: mostly c. dat. pers., Od.2.114, Pi.P.1.29, Hdt.5.39: also c. dupl. dat., Ἀγαμέμνονι ἥνδανε θυμῷ Il.1.24, cf. Od.16.28; εἴ σφωϊν κραδίη ἅδοι 20.327; Πηνελοπείῃ ἥνδανε μύθοισι pleased her with words, 16.398:—in ἁδόντα δ' εἴη με τοῖς ἀγαθοῖς ὁμιλεῖν the dat. belongs both to the part. and to the inf., Pi.P.2.96: abs., τοῖσι δὲ πᾶσιν ἑαδότα μῦθον ἔειπε Il.9.173, Od.18.422: c.acc., v. dub. in Thgn.26, E.Or.1607, both prob. corrupt readings.    II in Hdt. ἁνδάνει expresses the opinion of a body of people, οὔ σφι ἥνδανε ταῦτα 7.172, cf. 9.5; τοῖσι τὰ ἀμείνω ἑάνδανε 9.19: c. inf., τοῖσι μὲν ἕαδε βοηθέειν Ἀθηναίοισι 6.106, cf. 4.145,153, 201; so ἐπείνύ τοι εὔαδεν οὔτες (sc. ποιεῖν' Il.17.647, cf. Od.2.114:— τὰ ϝεϝαδηκότα quae placuerunt, IG9(1).334 (Locr.).    III Med., ἢν ἁνδάνηται Hp.Mul.2.150; cf. τιμὴ δαίμοσιν ἁνδάνεται AP10.7 (Arch.). (Cf.
