Thphr.HP3.9.6, etc.; also, Abies pectinata, ib.5.8.3.    II oar, as made of pine-wood, λεύκαινον ὕδωρ ξεστῇς ἐλάτῃσιν Od.12.172, cf. Il.7.5; later, ship or boat, E.Ph.208 (lyr.), Alc.444 (lyr.).    III the spathe of the date inflorescence, Dsc.1.109.4 (but, = βόρασσος (q.v.), ib.5), cf. Epich.160, Gal.12.151.    IV sea-weed supposed to resemble the fir, Cystoseira Abies-marina, Thphr.HP4.6.2.
