Ion. and later Μεταγειτν-γῑνώσκω, fut. -γνώσομαι: aor. μετέγνων:—

   A find out after, i. e. too late, ἄταν . . μεταγνούς dub. in A. Supp.111 (lyr.).    II change one's mind, repent, abs., Hdt.1.40, 86; μετέγνων, ἔγνων δὲ . . changed my mind and determined... Id.7.15; μεταγνοὺς ἂν ὀρθῶς βουλεύσαιτο Antipho 5.91, cf. Th.4.92, Pl.Phdr. 231a, Lys.19.53, D.18.153, etc.; οὔκουν ἔνεστι καὶ μεταγνῶναι πάλιν; S.Ph.1270.    2 c. acc. rei, change one's mind about, repent of, μετέγνων καὶ τὰ πρόσθ' εἰρημένα E.Med.64; μ. τὰ προδεδογμένα alter or repeal a previous decree, Th.3.40, cf.
