A First of the people, name of the hero who first leaped ashore at Troy, Il.2.698 (so understood by Hom., ib.702, but the name may be a corruption of Πορθεσίλαος, cf. Cret. Πορθεσίλας and Πορτεσίλας) :—Πρωτεσιλάειον, τό, his monument, Str.13.1.31: Πρωτεσιλάεια, τά, his festival, Sch.Pi.I.1.11.
