A counterbalance, compensate for, c. dat. rei, ὡς τοῖσδε (sc. κακοῖς) δὶς ἀντισηκῶσαι A.Pers.437: c. gen., ἀντισηκώσας δέ σε φθείρει θεῶν τις τῆς πάροιθ' εὐπραξίας some god ruins thee, making compensation for, balancing, thy former happiness, E.Hec.57, cf. D.S.31.12: c. acc., τιμαῖς ἀντισηκώσω χάριν I will compensate the favour by honours, Luc. Trag.243; support by way of compensation, τινά Hp.Acut.29, cf.
