Give up: P. and V. ἀφίστασθαι (gen.), ἀφιέναι, ἀνιέναι (acc. or gen.), μεθιέναι, ἐξίστασθαι (gen.), V. διαμεθιέναι; see also leave. Let go of: P. and V. ἀφίεσθαι (gen.), Ar. and V. μεθίεσθαι (gen.). I relinquish the command to him: P. παρίημι αὐτῷ τὴν ἀρχήν (Thuc. 6, 23).
