English (LSJ)

κύνες, expld. as πυρροί, with black mouths, Antim.98.

Frisk Etymology German

φόλυες: {phólues}
Etymology: Gennadius JHSt. 46, 42 f., der στίγματα (für στόματα) lesen will, an sich denkbar, zieht das Wort zu φολίς ("dogs of a yellowred coat spotted with black").
