   A an animal of the deer kind (so called from its large bright eyes), in Greece, roe, Cervus capreolus, E.Ba.699, X.Cyr.1.4.7; in Syria and Africa, gazelle, Antilope dorcas, Hdt.4.192 (in form ζορκάς), 7.69.—Other forms:—δόρξ, δορκός, ἡ, E.HF376 (prob.), Call.Lav.Pall.91, Luc.Am.16: δόρκος, ὁ, Dsc.2.75, Opp.C.2.315, 3.3: δόρκων, ωνος, ὁ, Palamed. ap.
