Am wenigsten tritt diese Bdtg bei Hom. hervor; er bezieht dadurch den Satz auf früher Gesagtes, wie Il. 2, 350 φημὶ γὰρ οὖν κατανεῦσαι Κρονίωνα auf die 349 erwähnte [[ὑπόσχεσις]] [[Διός]]; [[τίφθ']] [[οὕτως]] ἕστητε τεθηπότες ἠΰτε νεβροί, αἵτ' ἐπεὶ οὖν ἔκαμον πολέος πεδίοιο θέουσαι, ἑστᾶσι, 4, 244, das Stehenbleiben ist eine Folge der Ermüdung nach dem Laufen. Auch Il. 8, 5, κέκλυτέ μευ – ὄφρ' εἴπω, τά με θυμὸς ἐνὶ στήθεσσι κελεύει· [[μήτε]] τις οὖν – πειράτω, wird dieser Befehl mit der Aufforderung zu hören in eine innere Vrbdg gesetzt. Οὔτ' οὖν, Od. 1, 414. 2, 200. 11, 200, μήτ' οὖν, 17, 401 Il. 8, 7. 16, 98, u. zwar gew. im ersten Gliede; bestimmter ist die Folgerung in ἐπεὶ οὖν, ὡς οὖν, vgl. Od. 16, 478, οἱ δ' ἐπεὶ οὖν παύσαντο πόνου τετύκοντό τε δαῖτα, was auf 453 zurückweis't, οἱ δ' ἄρα [[δόρπον]] ἐπισταδὸν ὡπλίσαντο. So bei den Attikern überall; τὸν οὖν παρόντα πέμψον εἰς κατασκοπήν Soph. Phil. 45 geht auf 41 zurück, wo es hieß κἄστ' οὐχ [[ἑκάς]] που; vgl. οὐ γὰρ οὖν σιγήσομαι O. C. 980, worauf folgt σοῦ γ' εἰς τόδ' ἐξελθόντος ἀνόσιον [[στόμα]]; νῦν οὖν [[βουλευτέον]], demnach also, El. 15; bes. das Resultat einer ganzen Auseinandersetzung gebend, ἐγὼ μὲν οὖν οὐκ εἰμὶ τοῖς πεπραγμένοις [[δύσθυμος]], 549. – Bei Eur. Heracl. 690 sagt der Diener, nachdem er vergeblich versucht hat, den Jolaus von dem Versuche, in den Kampf zu gehen, abzubringen, ἀλλ' οὖν μαχοῦμαι. – In Prosa; βουλομένοισί σφι ἐδόκεε ναυμαχίην ποιέεσθαι, οὐ γὰρ ὦν ἐδόκεον ὅμοιοι εἶναι, Her. 9, 96 u. öfter; auch nach einem Satze mit γάρ, um die daraus gezogene Folgerung auszudrücken, vgl. Xen. An. 3, 2, 29 u. 30. 6, 2, 8; bes. nach Zwischensätzen, wo es die Rede so wieder aufnimmt, daß sie als eine Folgerung aus dem Zwischensatz erscheint, ἃ γιγνώσκοντες οἱ στρατηγοὶ εἰδότες οὐκ ἂν ὁμοίως δυνηθέντες, εἰ γνωσθείησαν (τοὺς γὰρ ἂν ψιλούς – οἳ ξυνείποντο) τοιόνδε τι οὖν οἱ στρατηγοὶ μηχανῶνται, Thuc. 6, 64, vgl. 3, 95; οἱ ἀστρονόμοι καὶ οἱ λογιστικοὶ (θηρευτικοὶ γάρ εἰσι καὶ οὗτοι) ἅτε οὖν χρῆσθαι αὐτοῖς οὐκ ἐπιστάμενοι, παραδιδόασιν, Plat. Phaedr. 262 b; so auch οὐ γὰρ οὖν, Phaed. 104 c; [[πάνυ]] μὲν οὖν, κομιδῆ μὲν οὖν, Alc. I, 130 c u. öfter. – Eben so im Nachsatz, um ihn als eine Folge des im Vordersatze Gesagten zu bezeichnen; καταμαθὼν δὲ ὁ Κῦρος, ὡς εὖ μὲν αὐτῷ εἶχον τὰ σώματα οἱ στρατιῶται, ἐκ τούτων οὖν ἐπεθύμει, so begehrte er demnach, Xen. Cyr. 3, 3, 9; vgl. Her. 9, 48, καὶ ἢν μὲν δοκέῃ καὶ τοὺς ἄλλους μάχεσθαι, οἱ δ' οὖν [[μετέπειτα]] μαχέσθων ὕστεροι; u. mit doppeltem οὖν, ἐπεὶ οὖν [[ἐκεῖ]] μὲν οὐκ ἐῶσι τοῦτο ποιεῖν, ἐν δὲ τοῖς πολιτικοῖς οὐδεὶς κωλύει – πῶς οὖν οὐ λυσιτελεῖ, Xen. Mem. 2, 6, 26. – Oft zeigt es so das Wiederanknüpfen an früher Gesagtes und das Fortführen der Erzählung od. der Schlußfolgerung an, [[ἡμεῖς]] οὖν ὡς εἰσήλθομεν, wie wir nun hineinkamen, Plat. Prot. 316 a u. sonst. – Zum richtigen Verständniß muß zuweilen Etwas ergänzt werden, wie Xen. An. 1, 2, 12, καὶ ἐλέγετο Κύρῳ δοῦναι χρήματα πολλά· τῇ δ' οὖν στρατιᾷ [[τότε]] ἀπέδωκε Κῦρος μισθόν, wie dem auch sein mag, dem Heere wenigstens, das ist gewiß, gab Kyros den Sold, wo Krüger Soph. Ant. 764 vergleicht. Dah. auch im Anfang einer neuen Rede, in Beziehung auf eine bloß gedachte Vorstellung, bes. bei Ausrufungen, σὺ δ' οὖν τέθνηκας, so bist du denn also todt! – In hypothetischen Sätzen dient es die darin ausgesprochene Bedingung als wirklich eingetreten zu bezeichnen, εἰ δ' ἔστιν, ὥςπερ οὖν ἔστι, [[θεός]], wenn er ein Gott ist. wie er es wirklich ist, Plat. Phaedr. 242 e, vgl. Rep. III, 388 c; ἐγὼ δέ, ὥςπερ οὖν οὐκ [[οἶδα]], οὐδὲ [[οἴομαι]], ich aber, wie ich denn auch Nichts weiß, glaube es auch nicht, Apol. 21 d; dah. nach [[ἤτοι]]–ἤ–., ὑποψίας δ' οὖν μεστὸς ἐγένετο, auf jeden Fall, Rep. I, 330 e; vgl. Her. 3, 80, ἐλέχθησαν λόγοι ἄπιστοι μὲν ἐνίοισι Ἑλλήνων, ἐλέχθησαν δ' ὦν, sie wurden nun aber einmal gesagt, wie 8, 133. Auch Soph. sagt τοῦδε σοι μέλειν ἐφίεθ' ἁ' νὴρ [[κεῖνος]], ὥςπερ οὖν [[μέλει]], Ai. 970, wie du es denn auch thust; εἴτ' οὖν, [[εἴτε]] μὴ γενήσεται, mag es nun, wie zu erwarten ist, geschehen od. nicht, oft bei Aesch., Soph. u. A., wovon Matthiä gr. Gr. §. 625 viele Beispiele zusammenstellt. – An relative Pronomina u. Adverbia gehängt verallgemeinert οὖν den Begriff derselben, wie das lat, cunque, ὁςτισοῦν, wer auch immer, [[ὁπωσοῦν]], auf welche Weise auch immer (s. die einzelnen Artikel). – In Fragesätzen bezieht es sich auf das Vorangehende, [[τίς]] οὖν ὁ λύσων σ' ἔστιν; Aesch. Prom. 773; τί οὖν μ' ἄνωγας ἄλλο πλὴν ψευδῆ λέγειν; Soph. Phil. 100; doch ist dadurch auch oft ausgedrückt, daß man die Behauptung auf sich beruhen läßt; τί οὖν; was nun, was weiter? was folgt denn daraus? Plat. – Ἀλλ' οὖν u. μὲν οὖν schränken das Vorangehende ein. | |||
