be at a standstill, v.: use P. and V. ἀργεῖν, ἡσυχάζειν.
each man thought that things had come to a standstill wherever he could not individually be present: P. ἐν τούτῳ κεκωλῦσθαι ἐδόκει ἑκάστῳ τὰ πράγματα ᾧ μή τις αὐτὸς παρέσται (Thuc. 2, 8).
