   A east wind, Hdt.4.22, 7.188, E.Cyc.19, Th.3.23; opp. ζέφυρος, Arist.Mete.363b13, cf.Mu. 394b23, Vent.973a13, al.—The Ion. form ἀπηλιώτης is retained in Att., and appears on the Tower of Andronicus Cyrrhestes, CIG 518; ἀφηλιώτης on a later table of the winds, IG14.1308, and in Latin authors, Catull.26.3, SenecaQN5.16.4, Gell.2.22.8.
