English (LSJ)
ἀμφιβαρές, or,
A chair carried by two men, Hsch.; satyric dance, EM91.1.
Frisk Etymological English
Grammatical information: m. or n.
Meaning: · ἀμφιβαρες· οἱ δε τὸν βασταζόμενον ὑπὸ δύο ἀνθρώπων δίφρον, ἄλλοι δε ἀμφίκοιλον ξύλον. H.
Other forms: ἀμφικελεμνίς· κατ' ὀβελῶν περικρέμασις ἰσορρόπως H.
Dialectal forms: Myc. opikereminijapi instr. pl. \/opi-kelemniaphi\/ part of a chair (connection with κρεμάννυμι, as -κρημν-, is impossible, s. κρημνός).
Origin: PG [a word of Pre-Greek origin]
Etymology: By Fur. 245 connected with κελέοντες (s.v.). This seems quite possible; only he assumes a variation -μ\/Ϝ-, but one might rather assume a suffix -μν- beside another formation.
