   A intricate knot, Stratt.48; ὑμεῖς . . ἀεὶ στραγγαλίδας ἐσφίγγετε tied knots fast (cf. στραγγαλιάω), Pherecr.21: hence Aristocreon called Chrysippus τῶν Ἀκαδημιακῶν στραγγαλίδων κοπίδα, a knife to cut Academic knots, ap.Plu.2.1033e.    2 knot or induration in the breast or other parts, Arist.HA587b22; cf. στραγγαλιά.    3 some kind of ornament, LXX Jd.8.26; σ. ἀργυρᾶ, σ. χρυσᾶ κεκολλημένη, POxy.1449.18,23 (iii A.D.).
