A highly honoured, freq. used in addressing a divinity, Ἀφροδίτη [Parm.]20; ὦ Ζεῦ πολυτίμητ' Pherecr.73, Ar.Fr.319; ὦ πολυτίμηθ' Ἠράκλεις Id.Ach. 807; ὦ π. θεοί Id.V.1001; θεώ Id.Th.594; ὦ π. Νεφέλαι Id.Nu.269; ὦ π. Αἰσχύλε Id.Ra.851; and (ironically) ὦ π. Εὐθύδημε Pl.Euthd. 296d; so τὸ π. ἰατρεῖον, of Aristotle, Timae. ap. Plb.12.8.4.
