A search carefully, inquire diligently, ἐμοὶ οὐ φίλον ἐστὶ μεταλλῆσαι καὶ ἐρέσθαι Od.14.378; οὐκέτι μέμνηται... οὐδὲ μεταλλᾷ 15.23. 2 c. acc. pers., inquire of, question, σε . . οὔτ' εἴρομαι οὔτε μεταλλῶ Il.1.553, cf.
