(ῥόθος)

   A make a rushing noise: hence, of a roaring fire, ἐν ῥοθοῦντι κριβάνῳ A.Fr.309.    2 of any confused noise, ταῦτα . . ἐρρόθουν ἐμοί such clamours they raised against me, S.Ant.290; λόγοι . . ἐρρόθουν κακοί there was a noise of angry words, ib.259.

Ant. 259; – c. acc., ῥοθεῖν τινί τι, Einem Etwas mit lautem Unwillen zurufen, entgegenmurren, ταῦτα καὶ πάλαι πόλεως ἄνδρες μόλις φέροντες ἐῤῥόθο υν ἐμοί, Soph. Ant. 290, wo der acc. aber wohl von φέροντες abhängt.
